by Hugo van Woerden, High Velocity Clouds Books available in PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Docs and Mobi Format. Download High Velocity Clouds books, On the occasion of the retirement of Ulrich Schwarz, a symposium was held in Groningen in May of 1996, celebrating his contributions to the study of the int- stellar medium, including his work on the high-velocity clouds. The coming together of many specialists in the latter ?eld prompted the idea of compiling a book c- taining their contributions, and summarizing the status of our understanding of the high-velocity cloud phenomenon. This seemed especially worthwhile at the time, since many exciting developments were taking place. After the discovery of some H i clouds with high velocities, about 40 years ago, the subject had been dominated by 21-cm observations of H i emission. Starting in the mid-1980s much progress was being made because of the availability of new instruments, such as large ground-based optical telescopes and UV observatories in space. The connections between the work on high-velocity clouds and other studies of the properties of the (hot) interstellar medium also became clearer.
by Marygail K. Brauner, Velocity Management Books available in PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Docs and Mobi Format. Download Velocity Management books, Velocity management brought a new way of doing business to U.S. Army logistics, with a renewed focus on the Army customer and an approach for process improvement that cuts across time, quality, and cost. The authors reveal the motivations, methodology, and management structure behind the initiative; the process improvements that have led to such quick and impressive results; and the steps that have been taken to develop and institutionalize the capabilities needed to achieve and sustain future improvement. Lessons learned can be readily adapted for other business models.
by Th. Dracos, Three Dimensional Velocity And Vorticity Measuring And Image Analysis Techniques Books available in PDF, EPUB, Kindle, Docs and Mobi Format. Download Three Dimensional Velocity And Vorticity Measuring And Image Analysis Techniques books, The contents of this volume reflect to a large extent the efforts made by a group of Institutes at the ETH Zürich to develop new techniques for measurements of flows in fluids in the last decade. The motivation came from the study of tr~sport and mixing processes in natural and industrial systems. One of the characteristic properties of turbulence is its high mixing efficiency. The techniques developed are therefore suitable, although not exclusively, for turbulence measurements. They can be subdivided into point-measurements and field-measurements. The aim of the point-measurements developed is to determine the three components of the velocity and all their first derivatives with good temporal resolution and accuracy in turbulent flows. The old and weIl established method of hot-wire anemometry was used for this purpose. One of the main achievements in this context is the construction of miniature multi-wire probes. This technique was introduced to the Institute of Hydromechanics and Water Resources Management of ETH Zürich by Profs. A. Tsinober and E. Kit from Tel-Aviv University. This was made possible by the generous financial support by ETH, for which I would like to express my gratitude on this occasion. In addition, Dr. F.E. Joergensen from DANTEC contributed an example of recent developments in the hardware ofConstant Temperature Anemometry (CTA), for which I am very thankful.
